The extent to which GM crops were planted in the United States of America (USA) between 1996 and 2020 was investigated. The percentage of planted acres of GM crops out of the total planted acres of crops for five different types of crops – HT soybeans, HT corn, Bt cotton, Bt corn, and HT corn – is presented in the graph below. ‘HT’ indicates herbicide-tolerant varieties and ‘Bt’ indicates insect-resistant varieties.
