In the Rundown Office Block variation of Milgram's obedience study, the experiment was relocated from the prestigious Yale University to a small commercial office in Bridgeport. Participants were informed that the research was commissioned by a private company called Research Associates of Bridgeport.

The setting was a three-room office suite in a rundown building, which was sparsely furnished. This shift in environment aimed to evaluate how the physical surroundings might influence the participants' willingness to obey authority in administering electric shocks, even when the authority was not in a highly respected institution.
