We decided to use a questionnaire consisting of closed questions, such as 'Is a doll a suitable toy for a boy? Yes or No?' Once we had crafted our questionnaire, we distributed it to parents of children aged between 4 and 7 at a local primary school.

We aimed to find out what parents considered to be typical girls' toys, such as dolls, and what they regarded as typical boys' toys, like cars. After collecting the questionnaires, we analyzed the responses, noting how many parents said 'yes' to typical girls' toys and how many had said 'no' to typical boys' toys.
