Speed is defined as the maximum rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement. It can also be expressed mathematically as:

v = \frac{d}{t}$$ where: - $v$ is the speed, - $d$ is the distance covered, - $t$ is the time taken. In essence, speed indicates how quickly an object or person can move over a specific distance.
