Oxygen is transported in the blood primarily in two ways:
Attachment to Red Blood Cells: Most oxygen binds to hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells. This forms oxyhemoglobin, which allows for efficient transport of oxygen.
Transport Through Blood Vessels: The oxygen-rich blood is pumped from the heart through named blood vessels such as arteries, which carry the oxygen to tissues throughout the body.
