To find the range of a set of numbers, you need to subtract the smallest number from the largest number in the list.
- Identify the smallest number: The smallest number in the list (6, 9, 2, 3, 9, 1) is 1.
- Identify the largest number: The largest number in the list is 9.
Now, calculate the range:
Range=Largest number−Smallest number=9−1=8
Thus, the range of the numbers is 8.

To calculate the mean (average) of the numbers, follow these steps:
-
Sum all the numbers in the list:
6+9+2+3+9+1=30
-
Count the quantity of numbers: There are 6 numbers in total.
-
Divide the total sum by the quantity of numbers:
Mean=630=5
Therefore, the mean of the numbers is 5.
