First, distribute the 3 in the term (3(x + 2)):
[3(x + 2) = 3x + 6]
Next, distribute the negative sign in the term (-(x - 1)):
[-(x - 1) = -x + 1]
Now, the expression becomes:
[3x + 6 - x + 1]
Combine like terms

Combine the terms with (x) and the constant terms:
[3x - x + 6 + 1 = 2x + 7]
Thus, the simplified expression is:
