Resources
- What are resources?
- Things used to achieve a goal.
- Types of Resources:
- Human resources: Skills, knowledge, energy, and time.
- Financial resources: Money and what it can buy (e.g., food, equipment).
- Environmental resources: Natural elements (e.g., air, water, trees).
- Community resources: Local facilities (e.g., schools, hospitals, libraries).
- Goals: Targets you aim to achieve (e.g., cleaning a bedroom).
- Management: Using resources wisely to achieve goals.
Home Management
- What is it?
- Using resources to efficiently run a home.
- Tasks Involved:
- Budgeting, meal planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning, childcare, and home maintenance.
- Tasks are shared by adults and children.
- Goal of Home Management:
- To provide all family members a safe, healthy, and happy home.
Advantages of Good Home Management:
- Less stress: Tasks are completed on time.
- Less conflict: Everyone knows their responsibilities.
- Saves money: Spending is planned.
Grocery Shopping Guidelines
- Check what is in the house already.
- Plan meals for the week and write a shopping list.
- Stick to your list to avoid impulse buying.
- Compare prices to find good value.
- Avoid shopping too often (you may buy extra items).
- Buy in bulk for non-perishable goods (e.g., toilet roll).
- Check expiry dates.
- Bring shopping bags.
Management Systems
- What is it?
- A logical process to achieve a goal.
Five-Step Management System:
- Set a goal: Decide what you want to achieve.
- Identify resources: List what you need.
- Plan: Map out the steps and timeline.
- Action: Carry out your plan.
- Evaluate: Reflect on what went well and what could be improved.
