Step 1
Answer
Correct Use of Space: Dancers should be aware of spatial awareness, ensuring they do not bump into one another while moving.
Entrances and Exits: Understanding how to enter and exit the stage appropriately is crucial for maintaining the flow of a performance.
Musical Cues and Timing: Dancers must listen for musical cues and perform their movements in sync with the rhythm and beats of the music.
Code of Conduct: Respect among dancers regarding personal space and mutual awareness is essential for an effective learning and performing environment.
Teamwork: Collaborating and communicating with fellow dancers fosters a supportive atmosphere and enhances group performance.
Step 2
Answer
In any dance performance, both technique and performance skills hold significant value. However, I would argue that performance skills are more critical to engage the audience. A dancer might excel in technique but fail to connect with the audience.
Performance skills, such as expression and interpretation, allow the dancer to communicate stories and emotions effectively. These skills involve understanding the dance's intent and conveying that to the viewers, making them feel a part of the experience.
Conversely, though technique is essential for executing movements safely and accurately, it is through performance skills that the dancer truly delivers the essence of the piece. In my opinion, if I had to prioritize one over the other, I would choose performance skills as they bring the dance to life beyond mere technicality.
