I trained in various dance styles, including contemporary and traditional African dance, at established institutions and under experienced mentors. My career spans over two decades, where I have performed with noted dance companies and founded my own company. I have choreographed numerous pieces, integrating cultural elements to convey stories and emotions within my work.

I established programs focused on dance education for youth, emphasising the importance of cultural heritage through movement. My work has contributed to the growth of job opportunities in the arts, fostering new generations of dancers and choreographers who carry on traditional narratives in modern contexts.

In Cargol/am Cinnamon, we utilised lighting to create a moody atmosphere, projecting visual elements that mirrored the emotional themes of the piece. Costumes were designed to reflect cultural heritage, adding depth to character portrayal while props helped narrate the story.

The music for this work was selected to complement the rhythm of the choreography; it featured traditional sounds that resonated with the cultural theme of the piece. The tempo and dynamics shaped the mood, guiding the dancers’ movements and enhancing the overall impact of the work.

Symbolism played a pivotal role in our choreography, with movements representing various aspects of cultural identity. Specific gestures signified community and kinship, while the spatial dynamics illustrated the relationship between individuals and their environment.
