Hamlet is a tragedy that revolves around Prince Hamlet's quest for revenge against his uncle. Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father, takes the throne and marries Hamlet's mother, Gertrude. Throughout the play, Hamlet struggles with his indecision and feigns madness to uncover the truth, leading to a series of tragic events that result in the death of most of the main characters.
Act I
Scene 1
The ghost of King Hamlet appears to guards at Elsinore Castle.
The guards decide to inform Hamlet.
Scene 2
King Claudius addresses the court; and marries Queen Gertrude.
Hamlet expresses grief over his father's death and his mother's quick remarriage.
Horatio tells Hamlet about the ghost.
Scene 3
Laertes advises Ophelia against Hamlet's affections.
