Principauté de Monaco

1. La Principauté de Monaco est un état indépendant et souverain, situé aux pieds des Alpes du Sud et bordant la Méditerranée. Le climat, avec des hivers doux et des étés sans excès de chaleur, rend la vie agréable tout au long des saisons. Il est à noter aussi que des stations de ski sont à moins d'une heure de voiture. L'histoire de Monaco est associée depuis sept cents ans à celle de la Famille Grimaldi. Le prince suivant s'appelle Albert II.

2. La langue officielle est le français. L'italien et l'anglais sont aussi couramment pratiqués. La langue traditionnelle monégasque (le munegu) est utilisée par les personnes âgées et est enseignée dans les écoles de la Principauté. La population compte 32,786 habitants. L'unité monétaire est l'Euro et Monaco est ses propres timbres-poste.

3. La fête nationale, qui est célébrée chaque 19 novembre, reste l'un des jours les plus importants de l'année. Partout dans les rues on voit des drapeaux rouges et blancs. C'est une fête bien aimée par les habitants de la Principauté, avec la distribution de cadeaux aux pauvres et aux malades, la foire publique, et le rêve des troups sur la Place du Palais. Le soir il y a toujours un grand feu d'artifice.
