Sound intensity is defined as the power per unit area carried by a sound wave.

Mathematically, it can be represented as: $I = \frac{P}{A}$

where:

• $I$ is the sound intensity,
• $P$ is the power of the sound, and
• $A$ is the area over which the power is distributed.
