Daoine Óga (Dearfach/Positive)
Is annamh a fheiceann tú daoine óga ag caitheamh toitíní sa lá atá inniu ann. Níl an nós sin coitianta a thuilleadh i measc na n-óg. San am atá caite bhí nach mór gach duine óg ag caitheamh toitíní agus ag déanamh dochar dá sláinte dá bharr.
You rarely see young people smoking cigarettes nowadays. That habit is no longer common among young people. In the past, almost all young people were smoking cigarettes and harming their health as a result.
Maidir leis an ólachán, is beag duine óg atá ag iarraidh aire a thabhairt dá shláinte a fheiceann tú ag ól. Nuair a deirim 'ag ól' táim ag tagairt do dhaoine óga a ólann an iomad ar fad, a ólann go dtiteann siad as a seasamh ar thaobh na sráide, a ólann go dtí go mbíonn siad caoch ar meisce, a ólann go dtí go mbíonn ar an otharcharr iad a bhreith go dtí an Rannóg Timpistí agus Éigeandála.
Regarding drinking, you see very few young people drinking who want to take care of their health. When I say 'drinking' I'm referring to young people who drink a lot, who drink until they fall off their feet on the side of the street, who drink until they're blind drunk, who drink until they're by ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department.
Níl ciall ar bith leis an sórt ólacháin sin, a chairde. Níl ciall ar bith le drugaí a ghlacadh. Má ólann daoine óga deoch nó dhó ag an deireadh seachtaine, ní baol dóibh. Tuigeann gach aon amadán agus gach aon óinseach má ólann daoine an iomarca go ndéanfaidh sé dochar mór dá sláinte.
That kind of drinking makes no sense, my friends. There is no sense in taking drugs. If young people have a drink or two at the weekend, they are not at risk. Every fool and fool knows that if people drink too much it will seriously damage their health.
Caithfidh daoine óga a bheith ciallmhar agus cúramach agus iad ag ól. Agus creidim go láidir go mbíonn tromlach daoine óga ciallmhar agus cúramach agus go dtugann siad aire mhaith dá sláinte. Mar a deir an seanfhocal 'is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte'. Creidim go dtuigeann daoine óga é sin.
Young people need to be sensible and careful when drinking. And I strongly believe that the majority of young people are wise and careful and take good care of their health. As the old saying goes 'health is better than fire'. I believe young people understand that.
