Úsáideann an file focail shimplí agus íomhánna simplí sa dán chun aigne an léitheora a mhúscailt agus a spreagadh.

This poem is about the love that the poet has for his home place. The poet was from Inishmore on the Aran Islands.
Tá sraith d'iomhanna álainn den saol in iarthar na hÉireann sa dán seo, agus tá gach ceann acu ag léiriú an grá áite a bhí ag an bhfile den oileán.
There is a series of beautiful images of life in the west of Ireland in this poem, and each one of them reflects the love that the poet had for the island.

Véarsa 1
Sa chéad véarsa, feicimid íomha d'fheirmeoir ag rómhar, ag cur prátaí b'fhéidir.
'Fear ag glanadh cré'
In the first verse, we see an image of a farmer digging, planting potatoes maybe.
Níl aon rud le cloisteáil, ach amháin fuaim na spáide.
'ghimseán spáide.'
There is nothing to be heard, except the sound of the shovel.
Níl aon deifir ar an bhfeirmeoir.
The farmer is in no hurry.
Cruthaíonn an íomhá seo atmaisféar síochánta.
This image creates a peaceful atmosphere.
Is áit álainn í Inis Mór chun bheith ag obair – tá an aimsir go hiontach, agus cruthaíonn obair an fheirmeora fuaim cheolmhar.
'Binn an fhuaim. San Earrach Thiar.'
Inishmore is a beautiful place work- the weather is lovely, and the farmer's work creates a musical sound.
Véarsa 2
Sa dara véarsa, léiríonn an file obair thraidisiúnta an oileáin.
In the second verse, the poet shows the traditional work of the island.
Cuirtear íomhá os ár gcomhair dosna feirmeoirí ag bailiú feamainne.
We are presented with an image of the farmers collecting seaweed.
Baineann an file úsáid ealaíonta as dathanna sa véarsa seo.
The poet uses colours artistically in this verse.
Is féidir linn an fheamainn dhearg a shamhlú ar an trá bhán – ag lonrú faoin ngriain.
We can imagine the red seaweed on the white beach-shining under the sun.
Cinnte, léiríonn an íomhá seo gur áit ghleoite, dhraíochtúil í Inis Mór.
Certainly, this image shows that Innishmore is a charming, lovely place.
Véarsa 3
Sa triú véarsa, faighimid léargas ar shaol an oileáin.
In the third verse, we get an insight into island life.
Léiríonn an file an muintearas agus an spiorad pobail a bhain le saol an oileáin.
The poet shows the belong and the community spirit associated with island life.
Feicimid íomha do na mná ag obair ar an oileán.
We see an image of the women working on the island.
Cinnte, tá atmaisféar suaimhneach le brath sa radharc seo.
'Támh radharc síothach'
Certainly, a calm atmosphere to be felt in this scene.
Cosúil leis an bhfeirmeoir i véarsa a haon, níl aon deifir nó brú ar na má.
Like the farmers in verse one, there is no hurry or pressure on the women.
Leanann siad ar aghaidh leis an obair go dtí deireadh an lae- tá scáthanna na mban le feiceáil ar an trá.
They continue on with the work until the end of the day-the women's shadows can be seen on the beach.
Véarsa 4
Sa véarsa deireanach, cruthaítear íomhá do na hiascairí ag filleadh ar an oiléan. Tá na báid lán d'éisc.
In the final verse, an image is created of the fishermen returning to the island. The boats are full of fish.
Smaoiníonn an file ar na fuaimeanna áille atá le cloisteáil ina áit dhúchais, ar nós na maidí rámha ag bualadh ar an mbád.
The poet thinks of the beautiful sounds that can be heard in his home place, like the oars hitting the boat.
Is féidir linn fuaimeanna na madaí rámha a chloisteáil-
'Toll bhuillí fanna'
We can hear the sounds of the oars.
Tá íomhánna ealaíonta ann don fharraige ag deireadh an lae- tá an uisce ag lonrú faoi luí na gréine,
'Ar ór mhuir mhall'
There are artistic images of the sea at the end of the day- the water is shimmering beneath the sunset.
