Móthúcháin: Greann
Baintear úsáid an-chumasach as an ngreann sa scéal seo.
Humour is used skillfully in this story.
Cé go mbaineann an scéal seo le roinnt téamaí tromchúiseacha, ar nós stádas na mban sa tsochaí, feicimid go mbíonn an t-údar idir shúgradh agus dáiríre síos tríd an scéil.
Even though this story relates to a lot of serious themes, such as the status of women in society, we see that the author alternates between messing and seriousness throughout the story.
Mar shampla, tá an idirphlé agus an idirghníomh thar a bheith greannmhar. Fanann an fear taobh thiar den nuachtán at t-am ar fad, mar níl fonn cainte ar bith aige.
For example, the dialogue and interaction is very funny. The man stays behind the newspaper all the time, as he has no desire to talk.
Ina dhiadh sin, ní thugann sé ach freagraí gonta borb ar nós "huh?" agus "Sea".
After that, the only answers he gives are short, such as 'huh' and 'yes'.
Tá greann le feiscint nuair a théann an bhean thart ar a bhfuil ráite aici. Ionsaíonn sí na fir.
There is humour when the woman goes over what she has said. She is attacking men.
Tá an greann go mór chun tosaigh sa críoch.
The humour is prominent at the end of the story.
Titeann an fear ina chodladh, clúdaithe taobh thiar den nuachtán agus leanann an bhean ar aghaidh ag caint, 's ag caint!
The man falls asleep, hidden behind the newspaper and the woman continues to talk.
Tá greann le feiceáil arís nuair a mhíníonn an bhean go ndéanfaidh sí obair shealadach ag suirbhéireacht in ionad bean an tsuirbhé.
There is humour to be seen again when the woman explains that she will do temporary work in place of the survey lady.
Tá ioróin mhór anseo mar, ar lámh amháin, ba mhaith léi saoirse agus neamhspléachais mar bhean, ach ar an lámh eile, tá sí ag súil le sorn nua a cheannach leis an airgead a gheobhaidh sí.
There is irony here because, on the one hand, she wants freedom and independence as a woman, but on the other hand, she hopes to buy a new oven with the money she will get.
Is léir go raibh sí ag baint taitnimh as an gcomhrá le bean an suirbhé, ag tabhairt íde na muc agus na madraí do na fír.
It is clear that she enjoyed the conversation with the survey women, complaining about men.
Bhí deis aici chun a racht a scaoileadh agus chun sult a bhaint as insint bréag.
She had her chance to let loose and enjoy telling a lie.
