Sign of Four: Plot Summary
Arthur Conan Doyle's The Sign of the Four follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they investigate a complex mystery involving treasure, betrayal, and murder. The story begins when Mary Morstan, Watson's future wife, seeks Holmes' help after receiving mysterious pearls and a letter urging her to meet an unknown benefactor. Holmes discovers that Mary's father disappeared years ago under strange circumstances, and the pearls are linked to a lost treasure. The investigation leads them to Jonathan Small, a man seeking revenge after being betrayed by his accomplices in a treasure deal. Holmes, with his brilliant deductive skills, uncovers the truth behind the treasure's disappearance, solving the case and bringing the criminals to justice. Watson, in the process, falls in love with Mary, adding a personal dimension to the story.
