infoNote
Elements are substances that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means. They are the fundamental building blocks of all materials.
Composition: Each element consists of only one type of atom. The type of element is determined by the number of protons in the nucleus of its atoms.
Examples:
Copper wire: Contains only copper atoms.
Diamond: Made entirely of carbon atoms.
Chlorine gas: Composed exclusively of chlorine atoms.
