Macbeth: Plot Summary
Macbeth Macbeth is about a Scottish general named Macbeth who meets three witches after a battle. They tell him he will become king. Ambitious and encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills King Duncan to take the throne. However, guilt and fear drive him to commit more murders to protect his power. His rule becomes a tyranny, causing others to rebel against him. In the end, Macbeth is killed in battle by Macduff, who was born by caesarean section (and therefore not "born of woman" in the usual way). Duncan's son, Malcolm, becomes king, and peace is restored to Scotland.
