What do you do on the weekend? (Present tense)

These questions aim to test your use of different tenses. Don't worry! This is a topic you can easily prepare for. Write a few sentences about your weekend activities and practice them in the past, present, and future. A useful approach is to plan for:
Friday evening
Saturday (morning, afternoon, evening)
Sunday (morning, afternoon, evening)
Le Vendredi Soir (Friday Evening)
Les vendredis soir, je ne fais pas grand-chose.
Friday evenings, I don't do much.
Le plus souvent, je suis crevé(e) après une semaine très chargée à l'école.
Most of the time, I'm exhausted after a busy week at school.
Donc, je ne sors pas.
So, I don't go out.
Dès que je suis libre, je m'installe devant mon ordinateur et je surfe sur le web.
As soon as I'm free, I sit in front of my computer and surf the web.
Je télécharge de la musique, je regarde quelquefois des films sur Netflix et je pourrais passer des heures sur YouTube, en allant d'une vidéo à l'autre.
I download music, I sometimes watch films on Netflix, and I could spend hours on YouTube, going from one video to another.
J'y suis vraiment accro, mais ça me distrait et ça me détend.
I'm really addicted to it, but it distracts me and relaxes me.
Vendredi soir, c'est l'occasion de me détendre un peu.
Friday evening is an opportunity for me to relax a bit.

Grammar Point: "Dès que""Dès que" means "as soon as" and is used to indicate when something happens immediately after another event. It is followed by a verb in the present or future tense, for example: Dès que je suis libre (As soon as I'm free).

Samedi Matin (Saturday Morning)
Le samedi matin, je fais la grasse matinée.
Saturday morning, I sleep in.
Bien sûr, j'en ai besoin après ma semaine fatigante.
Of course, I need it after my tiring week.
Je prends mon petit-déjeuner.
I have my breakfast.
Je remonte dans ma chambre pour terminer mes devoirs et faire des révisions.
I go back up to my room to finish my homework and do some studying.
Quelquefois, ma mère m'apporte un goûter vers 11h.
Sometimes, my mum brings me a snack around 11 a.m..
Mes parents comprennent que je suis sous beaucoup de pression cette année.
My parents understand that I am under a lot of pressure this year.
Ensuite, je traîne à la maison jusqu'au déjeuner.
Then, I hang around the house until lunch.
Samedi Après-Midi (Saturday Afternoon)
Pour me divertir le samedi après-midi, je sors retrouver mes amis.
To entertain myself on Saturday afternoon, I go out to meet my friends.
J'aime passer du temps avec eux!
I like spending time with them!
On déambule dans les rues où on prend un café.
We wander around the streets where we have a coffee.
On parleà bâtons rompus.
We have chat about everything and anything.
Si j'avais plus de temps libre le week-end, je retrouverais mes amis plus souvent, on irait au cinéma.
If I had more free time on the weekend, I would meet my friends more often, and we would go to the cinema.
Des fois, je reste chez moi et quelques-uns de mes amis passent me voir.
Sometimes, I stay home, and a few of my friends come over to see me.
Samedi Soir
Les samedis soirs, ça dépend.
Saturday evenings, it depends.
Parfois, je vais en boîte avec mes amis.
Sometimes, I go to a club with my friends.
Le week-end prochain, je sais déjà que je sortirai parce que c'est l'anniversaire d'un copain. On se retrouvera tous chez lui et après on ira au centre-ville.
Next weekend, I already know I'll go out because it's a friend's birthday. We'll all meet at his house, and then we'll head into town.
Cependant, si j'avais beaucoup de travail scolaire, il se peut que je ne sorte pas.
However, if I had a lot of schoolwork, I might not go out.

Les dimanches après-midi, en général, je n'ai rien de prévu.

I try to get rid of stress.
Pour moi, la meilleure façon de me détendre, c'est de lire.
For me, the best way to relax is to read.

Last Sunday, I lay down on my bed and read a book.
Je préfère lire un livre plutôt que de voir le film-on utilise plus son imagination comme ça.
