Mothúcháin
Gan aon agó, is iad díoma, brón agus aiféala na mothúcháin is láidre sa dán seo.
Without a doubt, disappointment, sadness and regret are the strongest emotions in this poem.
Feicimid an brón agus an díoma mar theip an bpósadh.
We see the sadness and disappointment because the marriage failed.
Is léir go raibh grá ag an lánún uair amháin.
It is clear that the couple were once in love.
Shamhlaigh siad an cineál saol a bheadh acu lena chéile. Ach, ar ndóigh, bhí an fís a bhí acu don pósadh
an-diffrúil óna chéile.
They imagined the type of life they would have with one another. But, of course, the vision that they had for marriage was very different from one another.
Tá na mothúchain seo le brath agus le chloistéail tríd an dáin ar fad, ach go háirithe sa líne deireanach: "Thángthas ar réiteach, scaradar."
These emotions are felt and heard throughout the full poem, but particularly in the final line;
'A solution was reached, they separated.'
Ní bhfuair an fear nó an bhéan an pósadh a bhí ag teastail uathu.
Neither the man or the woman got the marriage that they needed.
Tá sé brónach nuair a theipeann ar an ngrá agus ar an ngaol.
It is sad when love and relationships fail.
