Organs

Animal Organs

• Brain: Controls body activities, such as body temperature and heart rate.
• Heart: Pumps blood throughout the body.
• Lungs: Transfer oxygen from the air into the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.
• Kidneys: Philtre waste from the blood.
• Stomach: Mixes food with digestive juices and kills pathogens in food.

Plant Organs

• Roots: Absorb water and minerals from the soil. Anchors the plant in the soil.
• Leaf: Photosynthesis.
• Stem: Transports substances through the plant. Supports the plant's leaves and flowers.
• Flower: Produces seeds for reproduction. (Chapter link: sexual reproduction of a flowering plant)

Human Systems

Organs work together to form different systems including:

1. Circulatory system
2. Respiratory system
3. Digestive system
4. Reproductive system
5. Nervous system
6. Musculoskeletal system
7. Urinary system

Plant Systems

Flowering plants have two systems:

1. Shoot system: parts of the plant above ground.
2. Root system: parts of the plant below ground.
