Organs & Systems (Plant & Animal)
Organs
infoNote
Organ: a group of tissues that work together to carry out a similar function.
Animal Organs
- Brain: Controls body activities, such as body temperature and heart rate.
- Heart: Pumps blood throughout the body.
- Lungs: Transfer oxygen from the air into the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.

- Stem: Transports substances through the plant. Supports the plant's leaves and flowers.
- Flower: Produces seeds for reproduction. (Chapter link: sexual reproduction of a flowering plant)
Systems
infoNote
System: a group of organs that work together to carry out a similar function.
Human Systems
Organs work together to form different systems including:
- Circulatory system
- Respiratory system
- Digestive system
- Reproductive system
- Nervous system
- Musculoskeletal system
- Urinary system
Plant Systems
Flowering plants have two systems:
- Shoot system: parts of the plant above ground.
- Root system: parts of the plant below ground.
