📚 Revision Notes
Diffusion
infoNote
Diffusion: the movement of substances from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Key Features
- Diffusion is a passive process. It does not require energy.
- Diffusion occurs down a concentration gradient (from high to low concentration).
Examples
- Respiration: Oxygen diffuses from the lungs into the bloodstream and from blood into cells.
- Photosynthesis: Carbon dioxide diffuses into plant cells for photosynthesis.
- Waste Removal: Urea diffuses from cells into the bloodstream to be excreted by the kidneys.
