Lipids are composed of:
- Carbon
- Hydrogen
- Oxygen

Role of lipids
- Formation of cell membranes (phospholipids)
- Heat and energy
- Formation of adipose tissue beneath the skin (insulation)
- Form a protective layer around delicate organs
