Asexual Reproduction (Rhizopus)
Asexual Reproduction (Rhizopus)
- Hypha grow upwards to form a sporangium.
- Mitosis takes place within the sporangium. A mass of cells is produced.
- Each cell develops a tough wall and is now called a spore.
- The sporangium cracks in the wind, releasing the spores.
- The spores are dispersed into the environment.
- If a spore lands on a suitable substrate, it germinates and forms new mycelia (lots of hyphae).
