Must make drawing clearer or more attractive

Dark area cast onto surface when object blocks light

Varying light reflected from object's surfaces

On surfaces like floors, walls, or other objects

Boundary between illuminated & shaded surfaces on object

Edge/outline of shadow on receiving surface

Above and slightly to one side

As parallel rays (like sunlight)

Shadow=onto surface; Shade=from object surfaces
