How steep a line is; vertical change ÷ horizontal change

$m = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}$

Vertical change divided by horizontal change

Line rises from left to right (goes upward)

Line falls from left to right (goes downward)

Equal slopes

$m_1 \times m_2 = -1$

The slope

$y_2 - y_1$

$x_2 - x_1$
