An activity or process that produces outcomes

A possible result of an experiment

The set of all possible outcomes of an experiment

A subset of the sample space (one or more outcomes)

From $0$ (impossible) to $1$ (certain)

Events that cannot occur simultaneously

Outcome of one event does not affect the other

Outcome of one event affects the outcome of another

$P(A|B) = \frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(B)}$, where $P(B) > 0$

Assigns a numerical value to each outcome of an experiment

Discrete: countable outcomes; Continuous: outcomes over a range
