Lady Audley's Secret: Plot Summary

1. The grand Audley Court mansion has fallen into disrepair and is home to Sir Michael Audley and his daughter, Alicia.
2. Lucy Graham arrives in the village near Audley Court to work as a governess, charming everyone with her beauty and mysterious past.

3. Sir Michael falls in love with Lucy and proposes, asking her to disregard his wealth. She agrees to marry him despite her impoverished upbringing. Alicia resents her new stepmother.
4. George Talboys returns to England after three and a half years in Australia, hoping to reunite with his wife and son.
