What does the coordinate plane consist of?

Two perpendicular axes: xx-axis and yy-axis.

How is a point on the coordinate plane represented?

By an ordered pair (x,y)(x, y).

Formula for distance between points AA and BB?

Distance = (x2x1)2+(y2y1)2\sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}

What is the midpoint formula for two points?

Midpoint = ((x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2)/2)((x_1 + x_2)/2, (y_1 + y_2)/2)

How to calculate the slope of a line?

m=(y2y1)/(x2x1)m = (y_2 - y_1) / (x_2 - x_1)

What does a positive slope indicate?

The line rises from left to right.

Standard equation of a line in slope-intercept form?

y=mx+cy = mx + c

What can you say about parallel lines' slopes?

They have the same slope, m1=m2m_1 = m_2.

Condition for two lines to be perpendicular?

m1×m2=1m_1 \times m_2 = -1

How do you write the point-slope form of a line?

yy1=m(xx1)y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)
