Fractions (Edexcel GCSE Maths): Flashcards

Top number; shows how many parts we have

Bottom number; shows equal parts whole is divided into

Fractions representing same value but look different

Multiply or divide both numerator & denominator by same number

Dividing both top and bottom by their highest common factor

When cannot divide both numbers by anything except 1

Divide the amount by the denominator

Multiply result by the numerator

Both are equivalent fractions (same value)

In simplest form (unless told otherwise)

Can get marks for correct method even if answer wrong
