Align the decimal points vertically

To line up digits with same place value

Make both numbers have same decimal places, e.g., $1.6$ as $1.60$

Multiply as whole numbers, ignore decimal points

Count total decimal places in both original numbers

Multiply both numbers to make divisor a whole number

Doesn't change answer but makes calculation simpler
