What is the purpose of an average in statistics?

To find a single number representing the whole data set

What is the mode in a data set?

The most frequently occurring value

How do you find the mode in a dataset?

Count appearances of each value, most frequent is mode

When is there no mode in a data set?

No value repeats in the data set

What is the median in a data set?

The middle value when data is ordered

How do you find the median for an odd number of values?

Arrange in order, find the middle value

How do you find the median for an even number of values?

Arrange in order, average the two middle values

What is the formula for the mean?

Sum of values divided by number of values

How do you calculate the mean?

Add all values, then divide by the count

When should you use the median?

When data has extreme outliers or skewed
