Transform, compute, then reverse to find original mean.

How to transform data for easier calculation?

Add/subtract or multiply/divide all data values by same amount.

If all data is increased by 10%, what multiplier is used?

Multiply by 1.1 to account for 10% increase.

What should you do after calculating the mean of transformed data?

Reverse the transformation (divide or subtract) to find original mean.

What affect does multiplying all data by 3 have on measures of center?

Mean, median, mode are all multiplied by 3.

What is the effect of a 20% increase on data?

Multiply data by 1.2 to include the increase.

How does a 15% decrease affect data?

Multiply by 0.85 (which is 100% - 15%).
