Seams

Seams join pieces of fabric to create clothing and textile items.

• Flat seam: The most common, neat, and strong seam used in everyday sewing.

Seam Finishes

1. Overlocking

• Uses a special machine to trim and neaten fabric edges.
• Strong finish, ideal for most fabrics and prevents fraying.

2. Pinking Shears

• Serrated scissors trim fabric edges quickly.
• Best for closely woven fabrics.

3. Zig-Zag Stitch

• Machine stitch along raw edges.
• Suitable for most fabrics.

4. Edge Machining

• Fold edge under, press, and sew.
• Best for heavy fabrics to prevent bulky seams.
