Use of Textiles in the Home
Textiles are used in the home for comfort, decoration, and practical purposes.
1. Soft Furnishings
- Used to decorate and make rooms comfortable.
- Examples: Curtains, cushions, rugs, lampshades.
2. Upholstery
- Fabrics used to cover furniture, e.g. sofas and chairs.
3. Carpets and Rugs
- Make a room warmer and cosier.
- Help to insulate and reduce noise.
4. Bed Linen
- Includes sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and duvet covers.
- Provides comfort and improves room décor.
5. Table Linen
- Used to protect tables from spills and for decoration.
- Examples: Tablecloths, placemats, napkins.
6. Towels
- Used for drying and personal hygiene.
