📚 Revision Notes
Mo Cheantar
Déan cur síos ar d'áit chónaithe. (Describe where you live.)
- Táim i mo chónaí i _____________________________________________.
- Tá mo theach suite: (My house is located…)
- i lár an bhaile (in the middle of the town)
- i lár na cathrach (in the middle of the city)
- faoin tuath (in the countryside)
- i mbruachbhaile (in a suburb)
- i sráidbhaile (in a village)
- cúpla míle ón scoil seo (a couple of miles from this school)
Cén saghas tí atá agaibh? (What sort of house do you have?)
- Is teach dhá stór/trí stór é mo theach. (My house is a two/three storey house.)
- Is bungaló é mo theach. (My house is a bungalow.)
- Is árasán é. (It's an apartment)
An dtaitníonn d'áit chónaithe leat? (Do you like where you live?)
- Tá idir bhuntáistí agus mhíbhuntáistí ag baint leis an áit. (There are both advantages and disadvantages to the place.)
- Is maith liom/is aoibhinn liom/is breá liom mo cheantar mar: (I like/love where I live because…)
- tá an radharc tíre go hálainn (the countryside is beautiful)
- tá na comharsana cairdiúil (the neighbours are friendly)
- Tá m'áit chónaithe ciúin, tá mo chairde ina gcónaí anseo agus tá an t-aer glan. (My area is quiet, my friends live here and the air is clean.)
- Is maith liom mo cheantar ach ceapaim go bhfuil fadhbanna anseo cosúil leis an trácht a gcaithfear rud éigin a dhéanamh faoi. (I like my area, but I think there are problems here like the traffic and something must be done about it.)
- Ní thaitníonn mo cheantar go mór liom i ndáiríre. (I don't really like where I live.)
- Tá sé róchiúin agus níl dóthain áiseanna anseo do dhaoine óga. (It's too quiet and there aren't enough facilities here for young people.)
- Táim i mo chónaí i bhfad ón mbaile mór agus mar sin bíonn sé deacair uaireanta síob a fháil go dtí an baile mór. (I'm living a long way from the town and it's sometimes difficult to get a lift to the town.)
- Bíonn an iomarca torainn ann san oíche, go háirithe ag an deireadh seachtaine. (There is too much noise, especially at the weekend.)
- Níl seirbhís mhaith bus sa cheantar agus dá bhrí sin, bíonn ar mo thuismitheoirí síob a thabhairt dom ó am go chéile. Níl ceadúnas tiomána agam go fóill. (There isn't a good bus service in the area and because of that, my parents have to give me a lift from time to time. I don't have a driver's licence yet.)
Céard iad na háiseanna atá i do cheantar do dhaoine óga? (What are the facilities in your area for young people?)
- Ar an drochuair, níl mórán áiseanna sa cheantar do dhaoine óga. (Unfortunately, there aren't many facilities in the area for young people.)
- Táim i mo chónaí faoin tuath agus bíonn orm dul go dtí an baile mór má theastaíonn uaim dul go dtí an linn snámha nó an pictiúrlann, mar shampla. (I live in the countryside and I have to go to the town if I want to go to the pool or the cinema, for example.)
- Bhuel, i ndáiríre, tá a lán áiseanna anseo do dhaoine óga. (Well, actually, there are a lot of facilities here for young people.)
- Is áit bheag í seo ach tá cuid mhaith le déanamh inti. (It's a small place but there's a lot to do here.)
- Tá club óige, cúpla ionad spóirt, trí linn snámha, bialanna deasa, páirc imeartha, dhá chúirt leadóige agus pictiúrlann anseo, mar shampla. (There's a youth club, a couple of sports centres, three swimming pools, nice restaurants, a playing field, two tennis courts and a cinema here, for example.)
- Tá Coiste na mBailte Slachtmhara againn sa cheantar. Bíonn tionscadail éagsúla ar siúl an t-am ar fad. (We have a Tidy Towns Committee in the area. There are different projects going on all the time.)
- Tá spiorad maith sa cheantar. Tá sé sin go léir bunaithe ar an gCumann Lúthchleas Gael. (There is a good spirit in the area. That is all based on the GAA club.)

An bhfuil mórán fadhbanna i do cheantar faoi láthair? (Are there many problems in your area at the moment?)
- Níl a lán fadhbanna againn anseo. (We don't have many problems here.)
- Caithfidh mé a adhmháil go bhfuil go leor fadhbanna sa cheantar. (I must admit that there are a lot of problems in the area).
- Den chuid is mó, tá muintir na háite go han-deas agus réitíonn gach duine go maith le chéile. (For the most part, the locals are very nice and everyone gets along well with each other.)
- Ó am go ham, bíonn fadhbanna ann, go háirithe ag an deireadh seachtaine nuair a bhíonn daoine ar meisce nó ar dhrugaí. (From time to time, there are problems, especially at the weekends when people are drunk or on drugs.)
- Sílim féin go n-eascraíonn tromlach ár gcuid fadhbanna ó fhadhb na ndrugaí. Imíonn an chiall nuair a ghlacann daoine drugaí. (I personally think that most of our problems stem from the drug problem. Sense leaves when people take drugs.)
- Ta fadhb mhór le hólachán faoi aois anseo. (There is a big problem with underage drinking here.)
