Teicnící Filíochta
Friotal (Language)
- Baineann an file úsáid as friotal simplí, nádúrtha agus gonta sa dán seo.
- The poet uses simple, natural and concise language in this poem.
- Tá an friotal gan mhaisiú, rud a oireann go maith don ábhar — an brón ciúin, príobháideach.
- The language is unembellished, which suits the subject — quiet, private grief.
- Úsáideann sé frásaí soiléire cosúil le:
"i bhfeisteas caointe dubh" agus "gan focal astu beirt"
- He uses clear phrases such as "in black mourning" and "without a word from them".
- Éiríonn leis cur síos a dhéanamh ar mothúchán domhain le focail bheaga.
- He succeeds in expressing deep emotion with very few words.
Pearsantú (Personification)
- Cé nach mbaintear úsáid dhíreach as pearsantú sa dán seo, tá daonnacht agus pearsantacht le brath ar an mbeirt bhan.
- While personification isn't used directly, there is a strong sense of humanity and individuality in the two women.
- Déanann an file pearsana uathu tríd an dínit agus an tost a chur i lár an aonaigh.
- The poet makes them feel like strong characters by placing their dignity and silence at the centre of the poem.
Uaim (Alliteration)
- Níl an uaim ró-shoiléir sa dán seo, ach tá ceol agus rithim ag baint leis an bhfriotal.
- Alliteration isn't very obvious in this poem, but there is a musical rhythm to the phrasing.
- Tá fuaim na línte mar seo:
"D'imigh an dínit leo"
- There's a softness to the sounds, which suits the poem's tone.
- Léiríonn an uaim agus an rithim seo ciúnas agus machnamh.
- This subtle rhythm helps create a mood of quiet and reflexion.
Meadaracht (Metre)
- Baineann an file úsáid as saorvéarsaíocht sa dán seo.
- The poet uses free verse in this poem.
- Níl aon rialacha doimhne meadarachta ná struchtúr seasta ar na línte.
- There are no strict metrical rules or fixed structure for the lines.
- Tá an saoirse seo oiriúnach don ábhar — ní theastaíonn uainn foirmiú foirmiúil nuair atáimid ag caint faoi bhrón príobháideach.
- This freedom suits the subject — we don't need a formal structure when speaking of private grief.
