Equation where highest power of variable is 2

$ax^2 + bx + c = 0$

$a \neq 0$

Linear: 1 solution; Quadratic: at most 2

At most two solutions

If $a \times b = 0$, then $a = 0$ or $b = 0$

Write in standard form $ax^2 + bx + c = 0$

Factorise to $(rx + s)(ux + v) = 0$

Only one solution (both factors identical)

Substitute answers back into original equation
