Divide leading term of dividend by leading term of divisor

Quotient $+$ $\frac{\text{Remainder}}{\text{Divisor}}$

Substitute value into $f(x)$ to find remainder

If $f(a) = 0$, then $(x-a)$ is a factor of $f(x)$
