5.5.1 Humanistic approach: Main assumptions
Assumptions:
- Important to study the whole person as we are more than just the sum of our parts (important aspects might get overlooked)
- Humans have free will - free to take control of our lives and behaviour.
- We are all unique and everyone should be treated as an individual.
- Self-actualisation - every human has an innate drive to reach their full potential.
- The scientific method is too objective and behaviour can be viewed subjectively as humans are all unique
