Level 1 (1-3 marks):

Limited comment on language and/or structure. Basic identification of features with minimal analysis.

Level 2 (4-6 marks):

Comment on how language and/or structure influence readers, using basic vocabulary. References may not always be fully developed.

Level 3 (7-9 marks):

Explanation of how language and structure are used to achieve effects. Appropriate and relevant references are chosen to support the points being made.

Level 4 (10-12 marks):

Detailed exploration of language and structure. Thorough analysis using specific language features, and references fully support the points being made.

Level 5 (13-15 marks):

Insightful and detailed analysis of how both language and structure influence the reader. Discriminating use of references to clarify and reinforce arguments.
