How much of one thing there is compared to another

When you can't divide both numbers by anything else

Find a common factor, divide all parts by it

Multiply by 10, 100, 1000 etc. to eliminate them first

Use common denominator, multiply to eliminate fractions

Convert to same unit (smaller one) before simplifying

A ratio where one side equals 1

Divide both sides by the first number

Multiply both sides by the same number

Add up all the parts

Divide total by number of parts to find one part

Multiply each ratio number by the value of one part

Both sides must be multiplied by same number
