Bhí Máiréad Uí Bhraonáin ina suí sa chistin ag smaoineamh ar a hiníonacha. Ba chúpla iad Éile agus Sharon. Bhí Éile díograiseach agus cairdiúil agus bhí suim mhór aici sa chispheil agus sa cheol. Bhí Sharon an-difriúil óna deirfiúr mar bhí suim aici sna buachaillí, sa smideadh agus san fhaisean. Ba mhúinteoir meánscoile é a n-athair Timmy. Ba thraenálaí é ar an bhfoireann iománaíochta freisin agus "Timmy Tíogair" an leasainm a thugadh air.

Nuair a chuaigh sí go dtí an bothán, chonaic sí a daid, Timmy, ag pógadh múinteoir óg darbh ainm Blaithín de Clár. Bhí Éile buartha faoi Sharon nuair nach raibh sí sa rang.

An chéad lá eile ar scoil, bhí Sharon chomh tinn le madra. D'éirigh go maith le hÉile ar scoil mar d'oibrigh sí go dian ach ní raibh suim dá laghad ag Sharon. Sa rang tíreolaíochta, thosaigh sí ag pleidhcíocht- chaith sí mála scoile amach an fhuinneog, ghreamaigh sí an glantóir ar an gclár bán agus ghoid sí na marcóirí sealadacha. Dúirt Éile go raibh deora i súile an mhúinteora ag deireadh an ranga.
The next day at school, Sharon was as sick as a dog. Éile got on well at school because she worked hard but Sharon had no interest. Éile said there were tears in the teacher's eyes at the end of the class.
Caibidil a Sé
Bhí Sharon gan smacht. Bhí sí ag bualadh le buachaillí agus ag ól gach oíche. Nuair a thug a hathair íde béil di, dúirt sí leis go bhfaca sí é ag pógadh Blaithín de Clár. Thug a daid buille dí trasna na leicinn. Bhí dioscó ar siúl oíche Dé Sathairn agus chuir sí iachall ar a daid cead a thabhairt di dul. Ag an lóin, bhuail siad le Jack de Grás agus cheannaigh sé toitíní dóibh. D'iarr sí air buidéal vodca a cheannach don dioscó freisin. Thug Timmy síob do Sharon don dioscó agus bhuail sé le Blaithín de Clár.

Bhí a fhios ag Máiréad go raibh rud éigin mícheart le Timmy. B'annamh a labhair siad le chéile. Dúirt Timmy go gcuirfeadh sé na cailíní chun na Gaeltachta ionas go mbeadh am acu le chéile. Bhí Éile míshásta ar dtús mar bhí fonn uirthi taithí oibre a fháil le tréidlia sa cheantar. Bhí Sharon an-sásta nuair a smaoinigh sí ar na buachaillí.
Mairéad knew that something was wrong with Timmy. They rarely spoke to each other. Timmy said that he would send the girls to the Gaeltacht so that they would have time together. Éile was unhappy as she wanted to get work experience with a local vet. Sharon was very happy when she thought about the boys.
Caibidil a hOcht
Nuair a bhí an Teastas Sóisearach thart, chuaigh na cailíní go dtí an Gaeltacht. Bhí Éile an-sasta mar d'aithin sí cúpla duine agus bhí cúirt chispheile ann. Chuir Sharon aithne ar na cailíní ina seomra agus cúpla buachaill ar an gcúrsa. D'fhán Timmy agus Máiréad in óstán ar feadh seachtaine agus bhí cúrsaí níos fearr eatarthu. Ach chuir coinsias Timmy isteach air agus lig sé a rún do Mhairéad. Bhí sí trína chéile. Ba mhaith léi scarúint óna chéile ar feadh tamaill.
When the Junior Cert was over, the girls went to the Gaeltacht. Éile recognised a couple of people and there was a basketball court there. Sharon got to know the girls in her room and a couple of boys on the course. Timmy and Máiréad stayed in a hotel for a week and things were better between them. But Timmy's conscious bothered him and he told his secret to Mairéad. She was devastated. She wanted them to separate from one another for a while.
Caibidil a Naoi
Nuair a bhí sos acu i rith an chéilí, bhuail Sharon agus a cairde le grúpa buachaillí ó Bhaile Átha Cliath. Chuaigh siad go bun na páirce agus bhí toitíní ag na buachaillí. Rug múinteoir greim orthu agus bhí siad i dtrioblóid. Thug Jamie a uimhir fhóin do Sharon. An oíche sin, sheol Sharon téacs chuig Jamie. Timpeall a haon a chlog, d'éalaigh sí amach an fhuinneog chun bualadh leis ach chonaic bean an tí í agus chuir sí glao ar an bpríomhoide. Bhuail sí le Jamie agus thug sé drugaí di. Ag an bpointe sin, tháinig an príomhoide agus leas-phríomhoide agus rug siad greim orthu. Ag an gcéad chéilí eile, bhí argóint idir Sharon agus Éile. When they had a break during the céilí, Sharon and her friends met a group of boys from Dublin. They went to the bottom of the field and the boys had cigarettes. A teacher caught them and they were in trouble. Jamie gave a his phone number to Sharon. That night, Sharon sent a text to Jamie. Around 1am, she escaped out the window to meet him but a bean an tí saw her and she called the principal. She met Jamie and he gave her drugs. At that point, the principal and the vice principal came and caught them. At the next céilí, there was an argument between Sharon and Éile. Éile was dancing and enjoying it but Sharon and her friends were making fun of everyone. Sharon and Éile started fighting.
Caibidil a Deich
Chuir an príomhoide glao ar Timmy chun Sharon a bhailiú. Chuir Sharon glao ar roinnt buachaillí chun í a bhailiú ón nGaeltacht. Ní raibh ach Mícheál Ó Laoire saor. Bhailigh sé í agus chuaigh siad go carrchlós cois trá. Thosaigh siad ag ól agus thóg siad piollaí. Bhí siad as a meabhair. Thosaigh Sharon ag tiomáint an chairr gan aon taithí agus faoi thionchar alcóil agus drugaí. Ní raibh sí in ann díriú ar an mbóthar. Mharaigh sí caora ar an mbóthar agus phléasc siad amach ag gáire. Bhí sí ag tiomáint ar luas dainséarach. Go tobann, bhí soilse chairr eile os a gcomhair agus bhuail siad a chéile! Rinneadh damáiste ollmhór don dá charr.
The principal rang Timmy to collect Sharon. Sharon rang a few boys to collect her from the Gaeltacht. Only Mícheál Ó Laoire was free. He collected her and they went to a car park by a beach. They started drinking and they took pills. They were out of their minds. Sharon started driving the car without any experience and under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She was not able to focus on the road. She killed sheep on the road and they burst out laughing. She was driving at dangerous speed. Suddenly, there were lights of another car in front of them and they hit each other. Huge damage was done to the two cars.

Two months later, Sharon woke in hospital and she wasn't able to move a hand or a leg or say anything. The nurse helped her go to the bathroom. She went in the ambulance to the graveyard with her mother on crutches and Éile helping with the wheelchair. Her dad and Mícheál died in the car accident. Sharon saw the gravestone of her father, Timmy Ó Braonáin, and the gravestone of Michéal Ó Laoire in the graveyard.
Struggling to remember the plot?
Meet the Twins: Opposites Attract… or Maybe Not?
Once upon a time in a small Irish town, we meet two sisters, Éile and Sharon, who happen to be twins—but don't let that fool you. These two couldn't be more different!
- Éile: Hardworking, sporty, and all about basketball and music. Basically, your model student.
- Sharon: Rebellious, obsessed with boys, makeup, and fashion. Think of her as the bad girl in a teenage drama. Their dad, Timmy "Tíogair" Ó Braonáin, is a schoolteacher and hurling coach, while their poor mother, Máiréad, just tries to keep everything together.
The Drama Begins…
One day, Sharon decides she's had enough of looking like her twin and dyes her hair, layers on the makeup, and starts hanging out with Jack de Grás, the local bad boy. Things escalate quickly—next thing you know, she's getting hickeys (uh oh!) and ignoring her twin. Meanwhile, Éile spends her time with Charlie the horse, who is arguably a better influence than Sharon's new friends.
Caught in the Act!
Sharon sneaks off to meet Jimmy, another dodgy character, and while she's off being mischievous, she stumbles upon her dad kissing a young teacher, Blaithín de Clár! 😱 You can bet that's a moment she won't forget anytime soon. Éile notices something's up but can't get through to her sister.
Rebellion Mode: Activated!
Sharon goes into full wild-child mode—partying, drinking, sneaking out, and causing absolute havoc. One night, she comes home drunk, and her mother is furious. But does that stop Sharon? Nope. She keeps acting out at school, throwing a school bag out a window, stealing markers, and making the teacher cry (seriously, who does that?!).
Then comes the moment of reckoning—her dad slaps her across the face when she confronts him about Blaithín. But does she learn her lesson? Of course not! Instead, she forces her dad to let her go to a disco, where her boyfriend buys her vodka (because obviously, that's a great idea).
Off to the Gaeltacht (Because That'll Fix Everything, Right?)
Máiréad and Timmy are at their wits' end, so they send the twins to the Gaeltacht. Éile is delighted (yay, basketball!), while Sharon is excited for, well… more boys and drama. Meanwhile, their parents attempt a romantic getaway to fix their marriage, but Timmy's guilt takes over, and he confesses his affair. Máiréad is absolutely fuming and decides she wants space.
Things Get Worse (Somehow…)
At the Gaeltacht, Sharon meets some Dublin lads, sneaks out, gets caught smoking by a teacher, and still keeps misbehaving. Then she sneaks out AGAIN, meets up with Jamie, and guess what? He gives her drugs! 🤦♀️ Just when things couldn't get any worse, the principal catches her in the act, and her parents are called.
The Car Crash (This Is Where It Gets Serious…)
Timmy refuses to collect Sharon, so Mícheál Ó Laoire, a random local lad, picks her up. They drive to the beach, start drinking and taking pills (because they never learn), and Sharon decides she should drive… even though she has zero experience.
What happens next? DISASTER.
- She kills a sheep (RIP).
- Laughs about it (not a great reaction, Sharon).
- Speeds like a maniac.
- Crashes head-on into another car! 😱 The crash is devastating.
Timmy and Mícheál DIE.
Sharon? Coma.
The Aftermath
Two months later, Sharon wakes up in hospital, unable to move or speak. She is completely paralysed. Her mother is on crutches, and Éile is pushing a wheelchair. The biggest shock? Her dad is dead, and so is Mícheál. The story ends with Sharon visiting their graves, finally realising the consequences of her actions.
Moral of the Story?
- Listen to your twin (especially if she's the responsible one).
- Don't sneak out, drink, do drugs, or drive without a licence—nothing good will come of it.
- Maybe don't laugh when you hit a sheep…
- Parents are human too—even Timmy Tíogair made big mistakes.
- Bad decisions have real consequences—Sharon's life will never be the same again.
