Iníon: English Translation
Le Áine Durkin
Tá deora i do shúile anois,
ag do ráiteas gontach searbh,
'Níl clue a'd, Mom!' a dúirt tú liom,
's tú ag iompú uaim le fearg.
Bhí mise freisin i d'áitse tráth,
i mo dhéagóir meidhreach cool,
a cheap gur óinseach cheart an bhean
a chuir cosa i dtaca romham.
Anois tuigim ciall na máthar sin,
agus iníon óg a'm fhéin,
is déanaim mar a mhol sí dhom,
lena comhairle láidir thréan.
Is ceapann tú go dteipim ort,
bhuel, tuigim duit, a chroí,
ach níl aon lá nár mhéadaigh mo ghrá
ó tháinig tusa ar an saol.

There are tears in your eyes now,
at your short, bitter statement,
"You've no clue, Mom!" you said to me,
as you turned away in anger.
I too was once in your place,
a lively, cool teenager,
who thought the woman
who stood her ground before me was a real fool.
Now I understand the meaning of that mother,
and my own young daughter,
and I do as she advised me,
with her strong, steadfast counsel.
And you think I fail you,
well, I understand you, my heart,
but there's not a day my love hasn't grown
since the day you came into the world.
