Inherent habit of reason uncovering first principles of moral law

The good is what all things seek as their telos/ultimate end

Natural inclinations towards the good, as designed by God

Worshipping God, orderly society, reproducing

Application of primary precepts to specific situations/actions

Judgments from applying primary precepts to specific cases

Physical action occurring outside the mind

The intention behind the action, occurring within the mind

Good exterior act without good intention doesn't glorify God

Found in morality of all societies (e.g., not killing)

Reason corrupted by fall; relying on it for God is idolatry

Single action producing good & bad effects; justifiable if good intended, bad unintended

Good effect intended, bad effect incidental/unintended

Good effect must be proportionate to the bad effect

God's commandments are absolute, not contingent on intentions
