Mothúcháin
Tá go leor mothúchán le brath sa dán seo. – There are many emotions to be felt in this poem.
- Grá - Love
- Bród - Pride
- Greann - Humour
Tá an dán bunaithe ar na mothúcháin a mhothaíonn máthair Jeaic agus í ag féachaint air ag dul ar scoil tar éis an tsamhraidh.
The poem is based on the emotions Jeaic's mother feels as she watches him go to school after the summer.
Grá (Love)
| Grá gan teorainn a bhraithimid ó léamh an dáin seo. | From reading this poem, we feel love without limits. |
|---|---|
| Grá máthar atá i gceist. | It is a mother's love. |
| Tá grá ag an bhfile dá mac. | The poet loves her son. |
| Siúlann sí go dtí stad an bhus le Jeaic. | She walks to the bus stop with Jeaic. |
| Nuair a bhíonn sé ag lorg fanacht ina aonair, téann sí abhaile ach bíonn sí ag féachaint tríd an fhuinneog le cinntiú go bhfuil Jeaic ceart go leor. | When he wants to wait alone, she goes home but she watches through the window to make sure that Jeaic is OK. |
Bród (Pride)
| Ní féidir a shéanadh go bhfuil bród le feiceáil agus le brath tríd an dán ar fad. | It cannot be denied that pride can be seen and felt throughout the poem. |
|---|---|
| Tá bród ar an bhfile as a mac óg. | The poet is proud of her young son. |
| Tuigeann sí go bhfuil sé ag fás agus tá bród uirthi as a chuid crógachta. | She understands that he is growing and is proud of his bravery. |
Greann (Humour)
| Tá greann le brath nuair a déanann an file cur síos ar an mbuachaill óg. "Feairín beag seanchríonna A chaith seal anso cheana" | Humour is felt when the poet describes the young boy. "Little wise old man Who was here before" |
|---|---|
| I mo thuairim, tá an file ag rá linn go bhfuil Jeaic chomh cróga sin gur cosúil go bhfuil saol caite aige cheana féin | In my opinion, the poet is saying to us that Jeaic is so brave that it seems as if he has already lived a life (i.e. seems as if he has experience in the world). |
