Positive symptoms:

Positive symptoms: Symptoms that involve additional experiences that people don't normally have Hallucinations: When an individual perceives things around them that aren't real
- Hallucinations can involve any of the 5 senses Delusions: When an individual firmly holds on to irrational beliefs about the world, despite evidence contradicting them
Negative symptoms:

- Avolition: When an individual feels a persistent lack of motivation or energy to complete everyday tasks
- Speech poverty: When an individual uses minimal speech and shows a lack of spontaneous, unprompted speech
