Shows relationship between 2 variables by plotting points

Points are close to forming a straight line

As one variable increases, the other also increases

Points slope upwards from left to right

As one variable increases, the other decreases

Points slope downwards from left to right

No clear relationship; points randomly scattered

Data point that doesn't fit the general pattern

Shows general trend and helps make estimates/predictions

Predicting a value within the range of existing data

Predicting a value outside the range of existing data

Interpolation (within data range)

Correlation doesn't mean one variable causes the other
