Incredibly small living things seen only with a microscope (bacteria, fungi, archaea, protists)

Prokaryotic (no membrane-bound nucleus)

Eukaryotic (with membrane-bound nucleus)

Circular strand of DNA

Carry additional genes like antibiotic resistance

Can make their own food (self-feeding)

Feed on dead organic matter (decomposers)

Thread-like tubular structures that form fungi

Network of hyphae, main body of fungus

Contains reproductive spores

Heterotrophic (can't make own food)

Neutral or slightly alkaline (around pH 7)
